Hay por lo menos 30 ruinas mayas esparcidos por todo México y América Central. A partir de Chichén Itzá a Palenque, Calakmul a Tikal, pocos son menos impresionantes. Idealmente situado en un acantilado rocoso frente a las aguas turquesa del Mar Caribe, Tulum fue una de las últimas ciudades construidas y habitadas por los mayas, logrando sobrevivir unos 70 años después de que los españoles comenzaron ocupando México a principios del siglo 16.

There are at least 30 Mayan ruins scattered throughout Mexico and Central America. From Chichen Itza to Palenque, Calakmul to Tikal, few are less than awe-inspiring. Idyllically situated on a rocky cliff facing the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, Tulum was one of the last cities built and inhabited by the Mayans, managing to survive around 70 years after the Spanish began occupying Mexico in the early 16th century.
